DIRTY BIRD

Dear reader,
I would not presume upon your willingness to suspend disbelief, so I will continue our tale
under the assumption that much of this accurate reportage will be viewed skeptically, or wholly dismissed.
Have you ever seen a cop pull over a turkey? And need you to know that I am not using the any kind of metaphor or epithet here. I mean... like.... a fucking turkey... pulled over... by a Police Officer. This was the spectacle that greeted the Pause crew briefly after the onset of their Clothing Show adventure Friday morning. I don't know what offence caused that local cruiser to blare its lights and give chase, nor why a nigh unflighted bird would acquiesce and quietly stop its forward movement and stop at the side of the road, but it did. I saw it. I didn't stay to inquire as it was clearly a bad neighbourhood.
The clothing show was great. More pictures and more anecdotes will follow soon. I just want to give you some time to digest that a little.

P.S. If anyone finds Mika, please return him to us. When we got home his food bowl was empty and his water dish was tipped over. His green card to work in this country is expired so he may be held up in Mexico.

EVERY THING WITHIN REACH OF WHISPERS

When I (aka me) was a kid, I'd constantly be on the lookout for pieces around the city done by a certain artist: Chad MacDonald. Whenever I would stumble upon some, they would always blow me away. His pieces stood out from the rest because his style was so different from the cookie-cutter pieces of other artists in the area. He had fantastic ideas, and was able to execute them using a spraycan with ease. He'd paint just because he liked to, rather than have it be some kind of ploy for fame, and his pieces clearly reflected that. Art without ego is a beautiful thing.
The first time I met Chad, I was in the middle of trying to figure out how to use a spraycan by painting my nickname under a bridge...and failing miserably. (Seriously, this thing was the worst piece of shit you've ever seen. If I were to post a picture of it now, my parents would disown me, my girlfriend would break up with me, and you'd never visit this site again. Really awful.) Anyway, Chad strolls on up, introduces himself, and gets really excited about what I'm painting, telling me how awesome it looks. It wasn't of course, but his encouragement was. Having someone who was so good at what they do, encourage you (even when you suck), just pushed me to keep practicing and get better.
While I never got even remotely good at using a spraycan, Chad is still one of my all time favorite artists, and he's continued to be a very positive influence on everything I've created since.
Anyway, Chad has a solo art show starting today, and you absolutely need to go check it out. It runs at the NAC on 354 St.Paul Street, St.Catharines until October 2nd. Don't sleep on it!

HAPPY CAMPER

Recently, a group of friends and I took a bunch of things we love (Electricity, clean clothes, showers, Internet, 7-11, beds, air conditioning, toilets, and phones.) and tossed it out the window for a week to go sleep on the ground outside.

It sounds ridiculous, I know. But it's beautiful during the day. You can canoe, swim, lounge around in the sun, and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer you. And the best part is, there's not a soul to bother you for kilometers and kilometers away.

Although...it's a completely different story at night. You see, sleeping in a bag, surrounded by bears, wolves, moose, spooky trees and serial killers, with no one to hear you scream for kilometers and kilometers away, is downright crazy. You're practically packaged up nicely for the bears to enjoy! And shit, even if you somehow do make it through the night, you wake up freezing, in a puddle, with a rash. Awesome!

Okay, I'm exaggerating a tad. I actually did have a really good time, but I'm glad to be back in civilization. Trying to make a computer out of coconuts is a lot harder than I'd imagined. The wireless signal is awful, and the lack of coconuts in southern Ontario is a pain.

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

My favourite time of the year is quickly approaching! This September 25th, 26th, and 27th Pause Designs will once again be participating in the
The Toronto Clothing Show. We'll be in Toronto for three whole days to hang out with you, on no sleep, chock full of coffee and candy, giving out loads of high fives, making new friends left right and centre, showcasing a ton of NEW Pause apparel and products, and making the other vendors very very jealous.
If you've been to the
The Toronto Clothing Show before, then you know you're in for a great time. If not, here's a couple things it has to offer: 300+ booths consisting of Menswear, ladieswear, Jewelery, Vintage, Streetwear, Eco, etc., runway shows, artist Gallery, live art, and seriously good food. If that wasn't enough, everyone that attends also gets a FREE swanky tote bag designed by Pause Designs chock full of free shit! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?!

I'll see you there!

DRESSED FOR FRIEND REQUESTS

We've just set up a very exclusive Pause Designs fan page on Facebook. We'd like to have ALL of you join it, but I'm afraid that just isn't possible. You see, there are certain requirements to get into this select club. We're not going to let any old yahoo join. For starters, you're going to need a computer. "Big deal." Right? WRONG! That computer needs to have Internet access. Not as easy as you thought, now is it? Next, you're going to need a Facebook account, and I don't mean to put you down, but good luck getting into THAT club! Then, if you manage to get through all that crazy shit, you're going to need to become a fan of Pause Designs by clicking "Become a fan" on our Fanpage. If you think you can handle all that (Ha!) please click on the link below.
Good luck!
